My Story

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2025!

***

As some of you may know, my lovely mum Fiona fought bravely against kidney failure for a number of years, and in October 2023 had to undergo the massive life change to have peritoneal dialysis, which she does herself at home 3 times a day. It was a lot for her to have to deal with, and she did so with dignity and bravery. The support from the wonderful care team at The Derby Royal Renal Unit meant so much to us and I'd like to do something to acknowledge the amazing work that these people do to help and support people like my mum and our family during these difficult situations.

I'm going to be 40 in 2025, and this feels like the perfect time to do something that will not only challenge and benefit me, but will also support others who are facing kidney failure, as well as their families and loved ones, to cope with all the challenges that living with this brings to day-to-day life.

***

Every step I take and every penny I raise will be helping Kidney Care UK be there for people affected by kidney disease. Currently, over 7 million people are diagnosed with kidney disease with 68,000 of these in kidney failure and 30,000 receiving dialysis treatment.

Please support me and them to make sure no one faces kidney disease alone.
