Knaggs' Marathon Version 2.0
Steven Puddefoot-Knaggs
My Story
10 Years ago, as a spritely 30-something, I ran the 2014 London Marathon .... and hated every minute (all 230 of them).
Well, I'm back!
Why? I'm not sure but a hangover after Glastonbury Festival and a lawyer in Singapore have a lot to answer for.
I am however determined to enjoy it this time and hopefully raise some money for an amazing charity which does such good work for people who we all depend on but most don't know they are there. Please read below for details of the work undertaken by The Sailors' Society.
Your kind and generous support will mean the world to me.
Steve
The UnHappy Runner
Sailors' Society is a global maritime welfare charity supporting seafarers and their families in need, day and night 365 days a year.
Our international team of chaplains are always at the end of the phone or chat message to give comfort or provide crisis response and emergency grants - a complete support system in your pocket wherever you are, miles out at sea or alone in a faraway port.
Our circle of care covers seafarers from their first days in training or at sea and includes our award-winning wellness training, which we have been running for more than 10 years, our Sea Ready pre-departure training, helpline, trained Crisis Response Network, Ship Connect programme and hugely successful Peer-to-Peer support groups. And we are there for families too with our Wellness at Home training and support in any crisis from abandonment and accidents to imprisonment and natural disasters.
Sailors' Society has been running since 1818, more than 200 years. We have many decades of experience to draw from but are also known for looking forwards and evolution. We now offer almost all our support virtually so we can be on hand wherever and whenever there is need.
Seafarers will always be at the heart of all we do.
We all rely on seafarers. Seafarers rely on us.
