My Story

I first started running back in 2015, after going out to support my brother in law run the London Marathon. Although I didn't see anyone that looked like me, I was very much inspired to give running a go. Growing up, I didn't have any role models in any kind of sports, forget marathons. I love that MSA are all about empowering young Muslim girls to get into sport and staying active. I know my generation and the generations before me would have benefitted greatly when it comes to the their health, if they had that support and encouragement. When I go out for a run, whether it be a solo run or the London marathon , I want to be that role model for younger Muslim girls who would otherwise see their hijab as a hindrance. I want people to see me run and think "You CAN run as a Muslim girl, you CAN run in hijab, you CAN run whilst wearing a long dress."
