About

Help to change the lives of children and young adults with sight loss

Nick, Will and James will be running the 2025 London Marathon to raise funds for VICTA, a charity aimed at supporting children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted and their families. Will and James’ younger brother, Ben, suffers from congenital glaucoma, a rare eye condition that affects around 1 in 20,000 children in the UK. VICTA’s support has been instrumental in helping Ben to develop into the happy and confident boy he is today.

Ben is now 15 and an excellent artist (a couple of examples are attached to this page). Through commissions for family and friends, he never fails to impress with his unique style and ability to interpret subtle details. Ben has had work featured on official school publications and represented his school at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.

Nick is a 52 year old solicitor - this is his second marathon and he is (sort of) looking forward to getting back out onto the race line and beating his previous time!

Will is 22 years old and undertaking his first marathon. Having graduated from university in July and fresh from a stint working in Denmark, he has recently started a new job back in the UK and is looking forward to the challenges of preparing for the marathon.

James is 20 years old and will be heading to Lympstone in May for his Royal Marines’ officer selection course. This is his second marathon and he is also looking to beat his previous time.

Your donations will help VICTA provide:

Family activities which support and empower families with a vision impaired child through shared experiences
Young Achievers activities for 0-10 year olds, designed to support families with very young children who have just received a vision impairment diagnosis
Pre-teen and Youth Activities for 10-17 year olds, which offer hands-on learning and support personal growth in fun, safe and supportive environments
Young Adult Activities which support the development of life skills and the transition into adulthood and the workplace
Parent services including the VICTA Parent Portal, Parent Network and online parent workshops which help parents overcome the challenges of raising a child with a visual impairment

VICTA means a lot to us as a family and we really appreciate everyone for donating and supporting our cause.
