My Story

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2025!

In late 2017, my mum fell seriously ill. She lost two stones in one month. Among other symptoms, this was dismissed by her GP as a simple urine infection. It wasn't until 4th December 2017, after her creatinine levels skyrocketed from 100mg/dl to 1700mg/dl, that she was rushed to hospital. She was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure and told she only had two days to live. Against all odds, my mum survived thanks to the dedication and expertise of the medical staff.

After 6 years, on 20th September 2023, my mum received a life-changing call at 3 am – she had a kidney donor. The transplant on 21st September 2023 marked a new beginning for her. Though she faced a difficult recovery, she's now in better health than ever before, able to live life without the restrictions that once defined her.

My mum's journey has been an inspiration to me, and it has also shaped my career path. After graduating with a degree in Law, I chose to specialise in Clinical Negligence, driven by my family's experience with medical misdiagnosis and the subsequent struggles.

Running the London Marathon for Kidney Care is my way of giving back to those who made my mother's recovery possible, from the doctors and nurses to the organ donor who saved her life. I want to raise funds in memory of those who continue to battle kidney failure, to honour the medical professionals who work tirelessly, and to pay tribute to the donor whose generosity made a world of difference.

Every step I take and every penny I raise will be helping Kidney Care UK be there for people affected by kidney disease. Currently, over 3.5 million people are diagnosed with kidney disease with 68,000 of these in kidney failure and 30,000 receiving dialysis treatment.

Please support me and them to make sure no one faces kidney disease alone.
