My Story
I’m running the 2025 London Marathon for Young Lives vs Cancer, a cause close to my heart due to my family's experience with childhood cancer. Please help me support families when they need it the most.
My nephew, Jasper, was just 7 years old when his story took an unimaginable turn. It began with a few months of mild symptoms—fatigue, sickness, and wobbly legs—until doctors discovered a brain tumour called Medulloblastoma. The diagnosis sent shockwaves through our entire family. Jasper spent nearly 8 weeks in hospital, enduring a full resection of his tumour (which he lovingly named “Billy the Bump”). Though he faced complications like Posterior Fossa Syndrome, his fight was far from over. He then underwent 6 weeks of radiotherapy, followed by 9 months of chemotherapy. But on July 6, 2023, Jasper rang the bell and entered remission.
When I told my sister I wanted to run the marathon to support a charity that helps children like Jasper, she instantly knew which one to choose: *Young Lives vs Cancer*. While there are many amazing cancer and brain tumour charities, my sister shared how invaluable Young Lives vs Cancer was to her during Jasper’s journey.
She said, *“Young Lives vs Cancer may not treat the disease itself, but the emotional, mental, and financial support they provided me through Jasper’s treatment was a lifeline. Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to complete the forms needed for Jasper to receive DLA support, which made a huge difference during his treatment. They also helped us access grants and ensured Jasper received treats from various charities. The team at Young Lives vs Cancer was there for me through the darkest time of my life. I will forever be grateful.”*
Inspired by Jasper's strength and my sister’s gratitude, I’m committed to running the 2025 London Marathon to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer. Every donation will help ensure this incredible charity can continue to support families like ours, offering emotional, financial, and practical support during the toughest times.
Please consider donating to help children like Jasper and their families navigate the challenges of childhood cancer. Together, we can make a real difference.
