My Story
I’m raising money for ME Research UK. Thank you for your support.
M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) is a long-term, neurological condition.
There are currently no cures or effective, evidence-based treatments for M.E.
An estimated 1.3 million people in the UK have M.E (15-30 million people worldwide).
75% of people with M.E are unable to work and 25% are homebound or bedridden.
Research shows the average person with M.E has a worse quality of life than those with multiple sclerosis, stroke, diabetes, renal failure, lung disease, heart failure, and cancer.
However, there is a critical lack of funding for biomedical research into ME. ME receives far less funding into research than many other diseases. (In 2015-2020 the UK government has only spent approximately £6 million on research into ME. For context, 53 million was spent on Parkinson’s research.)
